Reports are emerging that the long-promised cinema may be tiny - as few as fifty seats to a screen.

The Conservative controlled Council promised to build a cinema five years ago. Since then there have been endless delays:
- Originally linked to the controversial new Tesco, the council backtracked and announced the new supermarket could go ahead without the cinema
- The District Auditor has also revealed that some of the millions put aside for building the cinema have been used to plug the hole left by their unwise investment in the collapsed Icelandic banks.
Sources have told John that tender document contains plans for three screens, each with only 50 seats.
John said "How the Council can think a cinema less than half the size of the Regal is acceptable is beyond belief. These cheap-skates need to stop cutting corners, get in proper investment and give people in Bassetlaw the facilities we need and want."
The Council have issued a tender document, asking contractors to bid to build the new cinema. At a Council meeting earlier this week, Cllr. Michael Quigley refused to outline how large the new cinema could be.
Instead Quigley promised that the document would be available to the public the following day. However, large portions of it have been kept confidential.
