Help make a card to say thank you to our local health services
In July this year the NHS, one of the greatest social advances of the last hundred years, will be 60 years old. To help say ‘thank you’ to the NHS and all the staff who work in it - from nurses and doctors through to ambulance drivers and cleaners, who have helped and will continue to help our families in Bassetlaw, I have launched a competition to encourage local children to make a birthday card for the NHS at 60.
The competition is open to all children who live in Bassetlaw. There will be a runner up from each participating school and an overall winner from Bassetlaw. The children paint, draw or make a card to say ‘thank you’ to the NHS, possibly drawing on their own experiences as to how the NHS has helped them and their families, using whatever materials they wish.
The closing date for entries, which should be sent to 68a Carlton Road, Worksop, Nottinghamshire S80 1PH, is Friday 1st August. Entries will be judged by our panel including John Mann MP and local health workers. Please state the name, age and address for each entry and the name and contact number for a parent/guardian.
The aim of the project is to say thank you to and celebrate our vital health services in Bassetlaw, but also to help educate children about the NHS and the role it plays in our society. Indeed, at the heart of the NHS is the idea that every single person is entitled to the best possible care and treatment regardless of wealth. I hope that I can count on your support to celebrate the hard work that our NHS staff do in Bassetlaw.
Yours sincerely,

John Mann MP
