John Mann, MP for Bassetlaw has greeted the Committee on Members' Expenses call for flat rate allowances with no obligations for receipts with astonishment.  He said "it’s astonishing, why don't the MPs get it?  We are seeing the Gentlemen’s Club trying to resurrect itself from the ashes of prison sentences and public contempt.  Why can't these MPs get into the real world and accept that all expenses claims have to be publically transparent?  If the requirement for greater openness means additional bureaucracy then surely this is a price worth paying?"
