Public Meeting Called Over Council Backtracking on Leisure Facilities

In response to the outcry over the councils recommended decision to forge ahead with the Tesco development whilst backtracking on the five-screen cinema and ten-pin bowling John Mann has called a public meeting on the issue.  John has invited Bassetlaw leader Councillor Quigley to the meeting as he is responsible for the decision and can directly answer peoples concerns.

John Mann commented "Worksop people were told that we could only have the cinema and leisure facilities if the council also said yes to the Tesco development.  Now we are told that the work starts on Tesco at the end of the month and that the Turner Road development may be kicked into the long grass. These decisions are being taken behind closed doors. People feel let down and they want answers now and a public meeting is the best way to do this".

The meeting has been scheduled for Thursday 26th June 2008 at The Crossing, Newcastle Street, Worksop starting at 7.30pm.  All are welcome.
