This week the Keep Britain Tidy Group launches its document, ‘This is our home'. It sets out challenges for the next decade to help clean up and green up England.
They say that whilst there has been progress in the past 20 years, far too many of our streets, towns and rural areas still continue to be blighted by litter.
The Keep Britain Tidy Group believe that improvements will only come through working in partnership with local people to create and maintain surroundings that residents can be proud of.
John Mann is supporting the launch of the document. He said "the attitudes of ‘don't care' and ‘its not my problem' can no longer be tolerated. Issues such as litter, dog fouling and graffiti really matter to local people and it is very important that we are proud of where we live. Like most people I am fed up with having to dodge dogs mess and litter. I was brought up to either put my rubbish in a bin or take it home and these good habits need to encouraged today.
For change to happen this issue needs to be given a much higher priority with our local authorities working together with local people to make Bassetlaw a better place to live".
