John Mann MP welcomes East Coast's proposed Eureka timetable, which threatened to cut vital rush-hour services from Retford to London and Leeds and has been amended this week.
Commuters ran the risk of being severely hindered by reduced services departing from Retford Station during the morning and evening rush-hour periods. However, having taken the issue to the Minister for Trains, Chris Mole MP, and following meetings with East Coast trains, Mr Mann has secured the agreement of East Coast Mainline to reinsert a 08:30 morning service to London as well as two returning evening trains departing from Kings Cross Station which will now call at Retford Station.
There is a good possibility of an additional evening peak time service from Leeds will be included in the East Coast's Eureka timetable in addition to a new late night 10pm service on Saturday departing from London and an early Sunday morning train.
John says "I am delighted that services at Retford Station will be reinserted in the timetable."
Having listened to his constituents regarding the threats of job losses and foreseen delays during priority commuting hours, Mr Mann is pleased that the Eureka timetable which comes into force on 22nd May 2011 has been amended to take into account commuter and business concerns.
East Coast Mainline has also agreed to look at plans for increasing car parking provision at Retford Station over the next three months.
John Mann held three meetings with East Coats Mainline, including one for local businesses and a meeting with the Rail Minister last week.
