One of the rapidly growing manufacturing industries is that of micro power generation. A new system is now working which pays the householder for all surplus energy generated by solar panels and other systems. It would make great sense for schools, public buildings and A1 properties to be assessed for the possibility of doing this. The biggest requirement is a roof that is south facing and is able to have solar panels fixed to it.
A1 has taken a lead in the country with its installation of a small number of ground heat pump systems, but now is the time to greatly increase the investment. With new nuclear power stations and carbon capture technology giving a new future for coal, there will be plenty of energy for the future but it will be expensive. These micro-generation systems pay back entirely within 10 years, after which it is a free energy supply plus a windfall cash return every year.
The Audit Commission has now confirmed that Bassetlaw Council are using the Tesco money to partially offset the £8 million lost in Iceland. Despite my offers of assistance, the Council have not asked me to intervene at Government level, telling me unequivocally, last year that they needed no help as they were getting the money back. Obviously they were wrong.
The Audit Commission describes this as a £2.17 million ‘impairment'. And the council is clearly in denial about this. Having lost £8 million in Iceland through their reckless speculating on the money markets, we can now see why they are delaying the cinema project.
All this makes their extraordinary decision to refuse the 1,000 jobs at Vesuvius even more outrageous. This bold plan was entirely private sector funded and provided a new community sports stadium for Worksop Town FC.
Despite public uproar, they now hide behind silly allegations. I have received a comical set of accusations signed by the Magnificent Seven. They have made allegations, quite inaccurately, about who said what - at a meeting they refused to attend!
It is the hard working council staff I feel sorry for- can you imagine having to work under this mob?
